Strength for Today

Updated: Jul 20, 2020

It’s amazing how far I have come. I remember vividly as me and my friends would run barefooted and aimlessly without care, playing, and enjoying our childhood. I’m a long way from Sierra Leone, Freetown where my roots are.

Can you imagine how far you have come from your roots? Maybe it’s the other side of the town that no one wanted to be associated with. Maybe you come from a background filled with privileges some of us can only dream of. It is not the same for everyone but one thing we share in common is that we all are not where we used to be. Some of us have moved forward and others regressed.

I am far removed from that barefooted-carefree child I was back then even though I still walk barefooted.

Wherever you are in your station in life, the goal is not to regress but to move forward and make progress. If you are not satisfied with your current situation, then do something about it. There is a lot that can be done: counseling helps and keep on praying, and then pray some more. Talk to someone who can listen to empathize and one you can trust and keep on believing God to supply your needs. Financially you are strapped, pray as you cut off all the frivolous things, and start living within your means. Pray that you stay faithful. Pray and keep on praying.

At the end of your days, you want to ensure that the dash between birth and death signifies a time well spent on this earth. If you are struggling you must take a step back and take stock of yourself. What needs to change? Do you need to change something? Talk to the Lord about it ‘pray”. Then get ready to take the first step and do what it will take to restore your restless spirit. It is not going to be easy, nothing worth fighting for or living for is ever easy.

My gift to you: You can make it, just take it one day at a time, placing one foot in front of the other and keep moving forward. Pray! That, my friend, is the gift for today.
